Salvador Briffault Sánchez

Founding Partner

Salvador Briffault Sánchez is the founding partner of Briffault Abogados, S.C. and leads the firm's environmental and regulatory practice. He holds a law degree from Universidad del Valle de México and has more than fifteen years of experience advising on environmental matters, environmental crimes, and administrative and amparo litigation. He completed the Environmental Crimes Seminar taught by INACIPE (Mexico's national institute for criminal science) and the Diploma in Environmental Law and Management from the Centro de Estudios Jurídicos y Ambientales.

Career

Before founding Briffault Abogados, Salvador practiced at Iniciativa para el Desarrollo Ambiental y Sustentable (IDEAS, S.C.), Link International de México, S.C., and Paher Servicios Sustentables, S.C. As founding partner, he has designed preventive and corrective legal strategies — including environmental nullity actions and administrative amparo proceedings — across national waters and wastewater discharges, environmental risk, the Federal Maritime-Terrestrial Zone, contaminated sites, air emissions, waste, environmental impact, civil protection and land-use, as well as pesticides, plant nutrients, pharmaceuticals and federal health-regulatory compliance.

He has led environmental compliance audits across the energy, hydrocarbons, industrial (food and beverage, automotive assembly, sugar, agrochemical) and technology sectors, and has coordinated and reviewed environmental impact statements (federal and state) and forestry land-use change authorizations, including the design and oversight of mitigation conditions for approved projects.

His practice has also engaged with the legislative process: he has analyzed and commented on proposed reforms to Mexico's National Waters Law put forward by different political parties, seeking to balance the rights of corporate water users against those of committees, indigenous communities and other stakeholders in the administration of water resources.
